JAMESTOWN, TN: Primary Care of Jamestown and Pikeville Urgent Care, both operated by Presley Healthcare, LLC, announced a significant step forward on Monday. The two rural medical clinics are now designated as approved sites by the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), a federal initiative aimed at strengthening health systems in underserved communities.

The NHSC designation, awarded by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), recognizes clinics located in areas with acute shortages of healthcare professionals.

To qualify, clinics must be located in what the federal government defines as Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs). These are often isolated regions where access to basic healthcare, let alone specialized treatment is miles away.

By earning this designation, Primary Care of Jamestown and Pikeville Urgent Care become part of a national network of facilities committed to delivering comprehensive, affordable care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay.

For Johnny Presley, CEO of Presley Healthcare, the NHSC status is more than a certificate, it’s a recruiting tool.

“This designation allows us to attract more providers to our rural communities,” Presley said in a statement. “We can now offer programs like loan repayment and scholarships to clinicians, enabling them to serve the areas that need them most while advancing their careers with less financial burden.”

The National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Program offers up to $50,000 in student loan repayment to healthcare providers who commit to two years of service at an NHSC site.

These incentives are not only effective in drawing professionals to rural America, they’re crucial for keeping them there. Nurses, doctors, dentists, and mental health providers can all benefit from the program, creating a broader network of care for patients who previously had limited options.

Kelly Judd, Director of Operations for Presley Healthcare, confirmed that two clinics have already been approved: Primary Care of Jamestown and Pikeville Urgent Care.

A third, Monterey Medical, has submitted its application and is currently under review by HRSA. Judd expressed optimism about the outcome.

“We’re hopeful Monterey will soon join the ranks,” he said. “Every location we bring into the NHSC program increases our ability to serve more people with high quality, accessible care.”

For Presley Healthcare, the move aligns with a larger mission: to deliver consistent, compassionate care in places where it's often overlooked.

By becoming NHSC-approved, these clinics now stand at the intersection of federal support and local need, bridging the gap between what the community lacks and what healthcare can offer.

And in a time when rural health systems are facing mounting pressure, that bridge may be more essential than ever.
